Evander Holyfield
You´d
think that a retired professional boxer will have enough money to pay
their bills. This wasn´t Evander Holyfield´s case though. He was
actually owing money due to child support, taxes and mortgage. In fact,
he owes almost $500,000 in child support payments alone according to The
Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This is because he has, at least, 11
children from many different women. Needless to say, his 50,000 square
feet mansion was bound to be sold, as having a house so expensive was an
immense loss for him. It ended up being bought by Hip Hop artist Rick
Ross.
Burt Reynolds
Not only is he a star in Smokey And The Bandit, but he is also a victim
of a tremendous loss, as his huge mansion is being sold for half the
price he paid for it. He tried to convince the judge not to take his
precious home from him. Needless to say, his attempt has in vain, for he
failed miserably. It all started when Burt filed for Chapter 111
bankruptcy after he tragically ended his divorce with Loni Anderson. On
top of that, he had some failed investments in a restaurant chain in
Florida. Definitely an unlucky man.
Wesley Snipes
Perhaps the
unluckiest celebrity of the list, Wesley lost his precious house to
foreclosure after being sued for $2 million by his own talent agents.
Not only that, but he was also declared father of a baby that belonged
to an unknown woman. To top it all, he also had some issues with the
IRS.
Nicolas Cage
The
extraordinary actor Nicolas Cage lost his mansion in Bel Air after it
was sold at an auction to an unknown company. This manner has quite a
bit of history, for it also belonged to Dean Martin and Tom Jones. The
later one ended up losing it to foreclosure. This mansion was a beauty,
with a subterranean garage for 16 cars, a theater and an elevator. Of
course, this mansion was not cheap ($8.5 million). Not only that, but he
also lost his two houses in New Orleans, which had a combined value of
over $6.8 million
.
Chris Tucker
When you
become a successful and amazing actor and have been part of the
outstanding movie “Rush Hour” you eventually decide to live a better
live. Unfortunately, Tucker went too far. This was more evident when he
decided to buy a house of over 10,000 square feet and lost it to
foreclosure. The interesting part is this started as a rumor and ended
up being the sad reality.
On
top of that, he had some failed investments in a restaurant chain in
Florida. Definitely an unlucky man.Mel Gibson
In 2010, he
was facing foreclose in not one or two, but four of his properties.
These were his three houses in Malibu and a church he owned in a
different area. Apparently, he hadn´t been paying mortgage due to
financial hardship. Nobody knows if he managed to overcome this monetary
situation after this terrible year for the actor.
Rihanna
It´s incredibly
hard to believe that Rihanna was once about to lose her Beverly Hills
mansion for not paying her mortgage. This was not because of a lack of
money though, as the cause was a flooding that caused severe damages to
the house. Of course, she sued her real state agent accusing him of
selling her a poorly constructed mansion
Xzibit
Rapper/actor
Xzibit is faced foreclosure on his big house in California after failing
to pay more than $21,000 in mortgage payments. His financial problems
were revealed after some documents leaked online where was shown that he
owed more than $500,000 in unpaid taxes. However Xzibit’s money
problems don’t end there – according to famous TMZ.com, bank have sent
him an official note where warned him that his Woodland Hills mansion is
at risk. The website says that Alvin Joiner( it's a real name of this
hip-hop star), is at least $21,403.98 in debt over mortgage back
payments.
Brittany Murphy
The house
of the late actress, Brittany, was on the path to foreclosure but,
thanks to interested buyers, it averted the scheduled auction. Public
records show that this star and her mother purchased their house for
$3.85 million from Britney Spears, back in June 2003. Following the sad
death of Murphy in 2009, the Hollywood Hills house was listed for
approximately $7.25 million in March of 2010, but for some reason was
promptly removed just a month later. Last month, Murphy’s former house
was scheduled to be auctioned off, but received a two-week postponement.
Thanks to this Sharon Murphy had a chance to sell this mansion at the
much more reduced price of $4,995,000.
Nas
He experienced
foreclosure for the first time when he was about to lose his enormous
mansion with two bedrooms and three baths in Georgia. He bought it for
$585,000 in 2004 and ended up selling it for just $348,000 at auction.
Apparently he had stopped paying his loan debts to do a number of
monetary issues he was facing. The IRS took an immense amount of his
possession as he had more a giant debt for unpayed taxes (over $6
million).
